CBC-Style Report Cards: What Eduscape Can and Cannot Do Today
Schools moving to a competency-based curriculum (CBC) ask whether their report card software can keep up. Here is a plain answer about Eduscape, so you can decide on the facts.
What competency-based reporting asks for
A competency-based curriculum measures what a learner can do, not only what they remember. Reports tend to use performance levels or descriptors, and teachers record classroom work such as projects beside tests. Report formats are set by each country’s education authorities, so check their current guidance before choosing a template.
What Eduscape does today
- Editable grade bands: every band has a score range, a label and points. Enter the labels and ranges your school uses instead of the defaults.
- Your own assessments: add Weekly Test, Quiz, Project or Holiday Package beside BOT, Mid Term and End of Term. They share the same table and grade bands.
- Nursery skills and behaviour ratings: nursery cards rate learners with levels such as Always, Often, Sometimes, Rarely and Not yet, or Excellent to Needs help, in place of marks, aggregates and divisions.
- Editable comments: each comment matches the learner’s result and teachers can change it before printing.
- templates for Primary and Nursery, printed by class or saved as one PDF.
What it does not do yet
- There are no learning outcome, competency or rubric fields. Reports are produced from marks.
- There is no ready-made CBC report template, and we do not claim CBC compliance.
- Marks are not uploaded to UNEB or any exam body.
Who it suits
Schools that report with marks and grades, including those that want to relabel their bands, record projects as extra assessments or use the nursery ratings. If your school must produce a descriptor-only report today, tell us the format on WhatsApp and we will say honestly whether it fits.

Common questions
Does Eduscape support the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)?
Partly. Eduscape works from marks and grades rather than competency descriptors, so it is not a full CBC system today. You can set your own grade bands (score ranges, labels and points), add assessments such as projects or quizzes, rate nursery learners on skills and behaviour, and edit report comments. If your school needs CBC-specific reporting, message us.
Can I use EE, ME, AE and BE style levels?
You can type your own labels and score ranges into the grade bands, so a school can set level names of its choice. Reports are still produced from marks, and there are no learning-outcome or rubric fields yet.
Does Eduscape replace UNEB or school-based assessment records?
No. Eduscape produces your school’s report cards and records. It does not upload marks to UNEB or any exam body.
