How to Enter Marks and Work Out Aggregates and Divisions

Marks, aggregates and divisions sit at the centre of a primary report. A few habits keep them accurate every term.

Enter marks by subject

Record each learner’s mark for every subject and assessment, and check it is out of the right total before saving.

Grades come from bands

Your school sets grading bands, such as D1 to F9. A mark takes the grade of the band it falls in, so changing a band changes every grade that depends on it.

Aggregates add grade points

The aggregate is the total of the grade points for the core subjects. If a mark is missing the aggregate is incomplete, so find gaps before printing.

Divisions follow your rules

A division is read from the aggregate using the school’s division rules. Confirm that the rules match the ones your school follows.

Mistakes to avoid

Where Eduscape helps

The marks table has undo and accepts data pasted from Excel. Grades, aggregates and divisions are worked out automatically, and Division Rules can be set for your school. See primary school report cards.
